The presentation will be introduced with a short film titled “Ways to Interact with a Table”, by Ingrid Berger Myhre and followed by an artist talk.

BLANKS is a solo in which Ingrid Berger Myhre plays with the expectation of what is to come and the reflection of what was there a moment ago. The solo builds a frame for the dialectics between presentation and representation. A physical dot-to-dot-game develops in front of the spectator who, at the end of the day, is the one to fill in the blanks.
The idea for BLANKS came to be during one of Myhre’s residencies, where she played around with photo-series that could be transformed to gif’s (fast series of photos making the impression of an animated movement). By altering the photos in a new order than the one they were taken in, she could assemble them in a gif – and in fact “document” a scenario that never occurred.
In her two previous works STAFF (with Andreea David) and LATEST NOTES (with Ann-Christin Berg Kongsness) semantics has been central to Myhre’s interest in how we read what is at stake based on conventions and references in language. In BLANKS she continues this research, this time using image (photography) as the common denominator for how we name what we see.

The short movie Ways to Interact with a Table was made during a residency at PACT Zollverein, together with Japanese fine artist Mutsuro Ando, while researching practical semantics. Games playing around with a situation and the language used to describe it laid the grounds for Myhre’s next work SUPPLIES, premiering in September 2016 in Oslo.

Ingrid Berger Myhre (Oslo, 1987) Ingrid studied at the Laban Centre in London and graduated from Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in 2010. She then worked extensively as a performer internationally, and became in 2013 affiliated choreographer at Dansateliers Rotterdam, the house co-producing her works CURRENT (2013), STAFF (2014), SUPPLIES (2016) and BLANKS (2017). She received the DanceWeb Scholarship in 2010, the Feldstärke International Scholarship in 2014, and STAFF was taken on as a Life Long Burning production in 2014. Domestically, the constellation Myhre/Kongsness hosted the discursive event Text And Choreography and premiered LATEST NOTES at Black Box Teater in 2015. She is currently a member of the artist run Soria Moria Laboratoria is Oslo, where she is based since 2015 when retrieving her MA in choreography, research and performance at EX.E.R.CE in Centre Chorégraphique National de Montpellier. Upon graduation she received Arts Council Norway’s Diversestipend for Nyutdannede Kunstnere, and was the year after she granted the Councils Arbeidsstipend For Yngre Nyetablerte Kuntnere for the period of 2016-2017. Language and semiotics are central elements to Myhre’s artistic work, often with potentiality as vehicle. In her debut CURRENT (2013) description of various scenarios was used to refuse and make them appear at the same time – suspended in language. In STAFF (2014) terms were treated as ambiguous tools to understand and communicate a set of events. LATEST NOTES (2015) took a more poetic turn where scores and their range of interpretation laid the grounds for aesthetic composition. All of the works so far investigates semiotics departing from text and gesture, proposing different views on how we read our environment based on our common conventions and references in language. SUPPLIES (2016) continues this research of practical semantics, exploring how meaning is produced and perceived, in order to make expressions both within and beyond language enter into new relations.
